Our next Climate Cafe event is entitled Gain or Pain? The Impact of AI on Climate Change. It’s an interactive workshop that will get us all thinking about how and why we use AI and whether its impact on our lives, and on the climate, is beneficial or harmful. With AI already governing so much of our lives, what does the future hold? Is there a way to use it responsibly? Come and find out!
The workshop will be run by Frances Gordon, an expert facilitator with three decades of experience in the UK, South Africa, Croatia and Portugal. As Director of [www.narratology.co.uk]Narratology, Frances runs workshops on responsible use of AI for content generation and evaluation. Recently, as a keynote speaker at Technical Communication UK, she delivered a workshop on generative AI risk. Outside of her Director role, she lectures on a Master’s Degree for the University of Strasbourg, and has run a masterclass on AI literacy and impact, including impact on climate change. She is an expert contributor to ISO 24495 through BSI and international committees, and serves on the AI subcommittee. With a long-standing interest in sustainability, her philanthropic work includes consulting to the Antidote Africa, a circular economy initiative focused on transforming fashion waste into value for emerging African makers.
Once again we are privileged to be using the lovely Guildhall in the very central location of Christ the Cornerstone Church, Saxon Gate, MK9 2ES. Doors to the Cafe will, as usual, open at 1.45pm, and the workshop will begin promptly at 2.30pm, giving you plenty of time to get a drink and a delicious homemade vegan cake in our refreshments area, as well as network with new and old friends. There will also be time for this during a 15 minute break at 3.15pm and when the workshop ends at 3.45pm. As always entrance is free; there is a small charge for refreshments, and we ask you to bring cash for this and for any donations. In order for us to get a good idea in advance of numbers and arrange seating accordingly, it would be very helpful if you could email us at climatecafemk@gmail.com to let us know you are coming.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
